– DEPARTMENT OF ED

Hi Everyone,
As many of you have noticed, Pantone is no longer offering their swatch books for "free" on Adobe products. One must now install a plugin called "Pantone Connect" and pay for a $15/mo. license.

The Graphic Design department has asked RISD's site licensing group to purchase 250 premium licenses for our department. This covers all of the students and full-time faculty.

We do not want anyone outside of GD claiming these licenses. Unfortunately, anyone with a RISD email has the ability to login and use one. That means people outside of GD can eat up Pantone licenses that were specifically purchased for this department. So please don't share this information with non-GD community members as the number of licenses is finite and could get used up.

To use the plugin:
1. Install the Pantone Connect Plugin
- Open your Creative Cloud app and type "Pantone Connect" in the search bar at the top
- Click the "Stock and Marketplace" category
- Select "Pantone Connect" and click the install button at the top right

2. Open the Plugin and Log In
- Open InDesign (or any other Adobe app)
- Click Window>Extensions>Pantone Connect
- ‘‘‘IMPORTANT!!! Click "Sign In Using Single Sign On" at the bottom! NOT the regular email option!
- Attempt to use this clunky, terrible applet

IF YOU HAVE ALREADY SIGNED IN TO PANTONE CONNECT WITH YOUR RISD EMAIL IN THE PAST you will need to delete your account in order to be able to log in with Single Sign On. Go to the pantone connect website. Login and click on the account icon on the top right and choose "profile". Click "delete account" at the bottom.
I'll send out a couple of PDFs soon. One covering what I just covered. The other covering how to use this less than awesome app...

Luckily, the Pantone Emulation System on our HP plotters still works with this system.
Let me know if you have any issues or questions.
